Check/removal and installation lambda probe The lambda probe serves for adjustment of composition of the fulfilled gases on cars with petrol engines with the adjustable catalyst. The probe is screwed in in a final collector.

Connection cables a lambda probe should not be under repair or soldered. In case of damage of a cable to replace the lambda probe in a set. |
Check
|
|
- To warm up the engine, the arrow of the index of temperature of cooling liquid has to be in the middle of a scale.
- To leave the engine to work at single turns.
- To turn off electric connection and to connect between contact a lambda probe and the mass of the car the voltmeter.
|
|
- At the speed of 3000 rpm tension has to make about 0,55 In, for this purpose give a little gas the lever of a butterfly valve.
|
- Several times quickly to increase speed and to allow to decrease. At increase in speed the voltmeter has to show tension from 0,5 to 1,0 In, at decrease in turns from 0 to 0,4 In, otherwise a lambda probe it is necessary to replace. (In a workshop by means of the diagnostic unit sensitivity can be checked).

Removal
|
|
- To switch-off the plug.
|
|
- To unscrew a lambda probe on a final collector and to remove with laying. If necessary to unscrew at first the heat-shielding screen.
|
|
|
Installation

When replacing to take the lambda probe only of the same execution. |
|
|
- To clear a carving.
- To cover with special BOSH lubricant a carving only a lambda probe. New probes are already covered with this lubricant. Lubricant should not get on vents or openings of a body of the sensor. Whenever possible not to touch a body new a lambda probe, not to soil it.
|
|
If to screw in the sensor without special high-temperature paste, eventually the carving will strongly stick and a lambda probe it will be impossible to unscrew. |
- To screw in a lambda probe with laying and to tighten 40 Nanometers with effort.
- To connect the plug to a lambda probe.
