Engine cooling system

Contour of cooling liquid

VZ, V6, BP (SOHC)

1 — a broad tank
2 — a radiator
3 — the radiator fan
4 — a radiator cover
5 — a broad tank model F

6 — the water pump
7 — the thermostat
8 — a thermoswitch
9 — the fan relay

The cooling system consists of a radiator, the water pump, the thermostat and the electric fan.

The contour of cooling liquid copes thermostatic. So far the engine cold, cooling liquid circulates only in the block of cylinders and the heat exchanger of a heater. When heating cooling liquid the thermostat opens and cooling liquid begins to proceed through a radiator. Cooling liquid is set in motion by the water pump which is in turn set in motion by a maple belt. Cooling liquid passes through a radiator from top to down and is cooled at the same time with the air proceeding through plates.

The electric fan provides additional cooling. When temperature of cooling liquid increases up to +91 °C, the thermoswitch via the relay turns on the fan. If temperature of cooling liquid falls below +84 °C, the thermoswitch automatically switches-off the fan.

The tank of cooling liquid serves as a broad tank and collects the liquid extending when heating, and after cooling of the engine returns back it in a contour. At the expense of it the contour is constantly filled and provides good cooling. Cooling liquid has to be added only through a broad tank.

The fan of a radiator can automatically turn on at the switched-off engine and the included ignition. This process caused by heat in a motive compartment can repeat several times. During the works in a motive compartment on the hot engine it is always necessary to remember a possibility of unexpected turning on of the fan. Therefore whenever possible during the works in a motive compartment ignition should be switched off.
