Replacement of brake fluid

Necessary special tool:

  • Cap key for pumping gates. Necessary spare details:
  • Brake fluid of the SAE J 1703, DOT 3 specification.

Brake fluid through a time in hoses and through an air vent of a compensation tank absorbs moisture from air. Because of it the boiling point of brake fluid in use goes down. At strong impact on brakes it can lead to formation of steam traffic jams in brake pipelines because of what efficiency of braking strongly decreases.

Brake fluid has to be replaced each 2 years, whenever possible in the spring. At frequent trips in mountains brake fluid should be replaced more often.

  1. To pump out by means of a suction brake fluid from a broad tank to the level of 10 mm.

Not to devastate a compensation tank completely that air did not get to the brake system.

  1. To fill a compensation tank with new brake fluid to the mark "Move".

To open pumping gates on wheel cylinders and supports carefully not to overwind them. It is recommended, to cover gates in 2 hours before pumping by rust solvent. At strongly sitting gates to make pumping in a workshop.

  1. To attach a pure hose to the pumping gate on the right back support, to substitute a suitable vessel.
  1. To ask the assistant to pump over several times a brake pedal, pressure will not be created yet, to hold a pedal of a brake pressed, to open the pumping gate. Holding a leg on a pedal, to close the gate. To remove a leg from a pedal. To repeat this procedure on each gate to тез a time, only new brake fluid will not begin to act yet.
  2. To close the pumping gate, to fill a compensation tank with new brake fluid.
  3. In the same way to extort old brake fluid from other supports or cylinders in the sequence — back right, back left, forward right, forward left.

The following brake fluid has to be transparent and not have bubbles.

  1. Old brake fluid should be handed over in special point.
