Removal and installation of a radiator

1 — the resonant camera
2 — shtekerny connection, the fan
3 — a hose, a broad tank
4 — hoses of cooling liquid
5 — connection of the oil cooler. (Only cars with the automatic transmission.)

6 — the top holder of a radiator
7 — a radiator
8 — the electric fan of a radiator

After long operation of the car thin channels in a radiator can get littered because of the remains of cooling liquid and adjournment of lime. It leads to falling of power of cooling, the engine overheats. In this case only replacement of a radiator will save.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To disconnect a weight cable from the battery.

At the same time data from memory of malfunctions of the engine or a protective code of the radio receiver are erased. Before shutdown of the battery it is necessary to read instructions in the Section Removal also installation of the battery.

  1. If is available, to unscrew the resonant camera.
  2. To merge cooling liquid.
  3. To disconnect the top and lower hoses on a radiator, previously having weakened and having completely shifted collars.
  4. To disconnect a hose to a broad tank from a radiator, previously having weakened a collar.
  5. To disconnect a radiator fan cable.
  6. Diesel engine: To switch-off the sensor of level of cooling liquid.
  7. Cars with the automatic transmission: To disconnect pipelines from the oil cooler, previously having weakened and having completely shifted collars. To stop up hoses with pure bolts.
  8. To unscrew bolts of fastening of the top holder of a radiator, to incline a radiator back and to take out together with the fan.
  9. If there is not enough place, it is possible to remove the radiator fan.

Plates of a radiator have very keen edges therefore at removal it is recommended to work in mittens.

If the radiator remains removed longer than 48 hours, it needs to be washed out clear water, to dry compressed air and to close openings. The radiator can be stored and filled with cooling liquid, having closed openings. If not to make it, corrosion is formed that leads further to leakage.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. If it is required, to rearrange the fan on a new radiator.
  1. If the old radiator is established, it should be checked previously. To check that in a grid of a radiator and a waterproof casing there were no damages.
  1. If plates of a radiator are bent, they need to be leveled carefully the screw-driver.
  2. To check all hoses of cooling liquid for existence of anguishes, cracks and other damages if it is required, to replace. To check a condition of rubber tips of fastening of a radiator.
  3. To insert a radiator from above so that pins of fastening of a radiator entered rubber nozzles from below on the holder.
  4. To incline a radiator forward, to establish the top holder and to tighten fastening bolts with effort of 10 Nanometers.
  5. To put on the top and lower hoses of a radiator and to fix them by collars.
  6. To put on a hose of cooling liquid to a broad tank and to fix it by a collar.
  7. To connect cables to a thermoswitch and the fan.
  8. Diesel engine: To connect a cable to the sensor of level of cooling liquid.
  9. Cars with the automatic transmission: To take out bolts from hoses, to put on hoses the oil cooler and to fix by collars. To check liquid level in the automatic transmission, see the Head Vvedeniye.
  10. To fill in cooling liquid, see the Section Routine maintenance.
  11. To connect a weight cable to the battery.
  12. If are available, to determine time on hours and to set a protective code of the radio receiver.
  13. To warm up the engine and to check tightness of hose connections and a radiator.
  14. To check the level of cooling liquid, if necessary to add.
