Check of system of preheat

If there are difficulties at start of the engine, at first it is necessary to check a compression. In case of an insufficient compression the engine is not started at low temperatures. Check of a compression see the Head Petrol engines, the Section Check of a Compression.

Check of candles of an incandescence


  1. To unscrew cables of candles of an incandescence.
  1. To connect an ohmmeter serially to each candle and to check whether current between the block of cylinders and contact of a candle proceeds.
  1. If current does not proceed, the glow plug is faulty and has to be replaced.
  1. To unscrew a faulty candle. To insert a new candle and to tighten 20 Nanometers with effort.

The moment of an inhaling should not be exceeded, otherwise the thermal core will be damaged and the candle will prematurely fail. To watch that on a candle oil or fuel did not get. To observe instructions for the burned cores.

  1. To establish cables and to tighten 20 Nanometers with effort.

If malfunction is not found though the engine is started badly, visually to check glow plugs at heat. For this purpose to remove nozzles and to observe candles at heat through openings.

Candles with the burned cores

The burned cores often are a consequence of malfunctions of nozzles. Similar damages cannot be caused by shortcomings in or on glow plugs. If glow plugs with similar damages - an arrow are found - it is not enough to replace of them only. Also it is necessary to make check of pressure of dispersion and tightness of nozzles (it is carried out in a workshop).

Check of the relay of candles of an incandescence


  1. To disconnect plugs from the relay of candles of an incandescence.
  1. To connect the relay to the battery by means of two auxiliary wires.
  2. To connect an ohmmeter and to measure by resistance between two plugs.

Resistance has to be equal 13 Ohms.

  1. If value does not correspond demanded, the relay has to be replaced.
