Adjustment of the emergency brake

Brakes of back wheels are regulated automatically, according to wear of brake shoes. Adjustment of the emergency brake is necessary only when replacing the lever or a cable of the emergency brake or if the emergency brake does not hold despite the sufficient thickness of blocks.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To start the engine and several times to squeeze out a brake pedal, then to kill the engine.
  1. To lift a back part of the car.
  2. To check the correct laying and faultless fastening of a cable of the emergency brake.
  3. To release the lever of the emergency brake.
  4. To slowly pull the lever of the emergency brake up and to count number of clicks.
  5. The required value:
    • Cars to 9/89 g of the issue and the station wagon model: To tighten the lever of the emergency brake with effort about 200 N (there correspond 20 kg) - the lever Course on cars with drum brakes has to make from 7 to 11 clicks, on cars with disk brakes — from 9 to 15 clicks.
    • Cars from 10/89 g of the issue, except "station wagon": To tighten the lever with effort about 100 N (there correspond 10 kg). The course of the lever has to make from 5 to 7 clicks.
  6. If value does not correspond to demanded, to adjust the hummock drive. The adjusting nut is on a cable, and it is possible to reach it, without removing the console.
  1. To turn an adjusting nut, the correct course of the lever will not be reached yet. The usual key best of all is suitable for rotation. The adjusting nut самоконтрящаяся, i.e. is not required to zakontrivat it.
  1. After adjustment to lift a back part of the car and at the released emergency brake to turn back wheels a hand. They have to rotate easily, at the same time brakes should not rub, differently repeat adjustment.
