Removal and installation of blocks of a back disk brake

Back disk brakes are established on cars with a big engine capacity and/or ABS. The vvinchivaniye of the piston of a brake requires special adaptation. If there is no special adaptation, it is possible to make something similar or to address in a workshop.



  1. To mark the provision of a disk of a back wheel concerning a nave that the balanced wheel could be established in former situation.
  2. To weaken nuts of a wheel of the car standing on the earth.
  3. To remove a wheel.

Change by places of blocks of the right and left wheels is inadmissible. Change by places can lead to uneven brake influence. It is obligatory to replace at the same time all blocks of one axis even if the limit of wear was reached by only one block. If blocks are established again, before removal they should be marked.

  1. Cars from 10/89 g of the issue, except the station wagon models: To slightly screw 2 nuts of a wheel to stop a brake disk.
  2. To release the emergency brake.
  1. Cars to 9/89 g of the issue and the station wagon model: To unscrew the lower directing support case finger. On cars from 10/89 g of the issue: To unscrew the top directing finger, in addition to release a brake hose from a guide on a depreciation rack.
  1. To cast away the piston case up and to suspend on a wire to a body that the brake hose was not loaded.

Not to remove a brake hose, otherwise the system will need to be pumped over.

  1. Cars to 9/89 g of the issue and the station wagon model: to take out brake shoes with 2 top and lower springs and 2 protivoskripny plates.
  1. Cars from 10/89 g of the issue, except the station wagon models: To take out a spring - 3 screw-driver from openings of brake shoes. Then to take out blocks-4-together with springs-6-and a protivoskripny plate-5-.


At the removed brake shoes not to press a brake pedal, otherwise the piston will be squeezed out from the case. If the piston is squeezed incidentally out, to insert it in the workshop MAZDA.


  1. To clear the directing surfaces and places of landing of blocks in the mine of the case a suitable soft metal brush or to wipe with a rag with alcohol. Not to apply the solvents or tools containing mineral oils with keen edges.
  2. Before installation of blocks it is necessary to check a brake disk for existence of grooves, having felt it fingers. Brake disks with grooves should be replaced.
  3. To measure thickness of a brake disk.
  4. To check for existence of cracks a boot and protective cuffs in a support. It is obligatory to replace the damaged cap as the getting dirt quickly will result in leakage of a support. For this purpose the brake support has to be removed and sorted (it is carried out in a workshop).
  1. To slowly screw the piston to the right, clockwise, by means of special adaptation, against the stop. Then to turn the piston so that grooves stood directly.

The piston of a brake has to be screwed in. If just to move it, adjustment of the emergency brake in a support will automatically collapse.

  1. The special tool for a vvinchivaniye enters persistent grooves so the piston can be turned. If there is no special adaptation, it is possible to make something similar by own efforts or to address in a workshop.

At a piston vvinchivaniye brake fluid is forced out from the brake cylinder in a broad tank. To watch liquid level in a tank, it is possible to pump out a part of liquid a suction. For pumping out of brake fluid to use a suction or a plastic bottle which intends only for brake fluid. Not to use drinking ware.

Brake fluid is poisonous and should not be sucked away by a mouth through a hose at all. After replacement of blocks the mark "MAH" in a broad tank as liquid when heating extends should not be exceeded. The following liquid flows down down on the brake cylinder, destroys a varnish and causes corrosion.

  1. It is optional to implement the following item: For предотвращеня a scratch of disk brakes to cover the return and lateral faces of the basis of a brake shoe with protivoskripny paste (for example Plastilube, Tunap VC 582/S, Chevron SRJ/2, Liqui Moly LM-36 or LM-508-ASC). Paste should not get on a brake overlay or for a brake disk at all.

  1. If necessary paste to erase and clear the place alcohol at once.
  2. To establish on brake shoes new springs, see illustrations in the paragraph Removal.
  1. To insert both brake shoes with protivoskripny plates and to cast away the piston case down. At the same time camber on an internal brake shoe will be included into a persistent groove of the piston. When tilting to watch down that the cuff was not damaged.
  1. Cars from 10/89 g of the issue, except the station wagon models: To insert a spring-3-into openings of brake shoes.
  1. To screw lower, on cars from 10/89 g of the issue the top directing finger on the holder of a support with effort of 20 Nanometers. To fix a brake hose in fastening on a depreciation rack.
  1. If were established, to unscrew wheel nuts. To screw a wheel, considering at the same time a tag on a nave. To lower the car and to tighten nuts cross-wise with effort of 100 Nanometers.

Several times to squeeze out a brake pedal, notable resistance will not be felt yet. At the expense of it the adjusting device of the parking brake is installed.

  1. To check brake fluid in a compensation tank, if necessary to add to the maximum mark.
  2. To adjust the emergency brake, see the Section Adjustment of the Emergency Brake.
  3. It is careful to earn extra new blocks, for this purpose several times to reduce car speed from 80 to 40 km/h small pressing of a pedal of a brake. In intervals to do pauses for cooling of brakes.

On the first 200 km it is not necessary to make full braking.
