Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

To remove spark plugs, see the Head Vvedeniye.
To uncover a head of cylinders with laying.
To install the crankshaft in situation the corresponding VMT of the piston of the 1st cylinder, see the Section Removal and installation of a gear belt (DOHC).

Position of the crankshaft should not change after that any more.

To take off a gear belt, see the Section Removal and installation of a gear belt of VZ, V5, B6 (SOHC), BP engines (SOHC).
To remove the ignition distributor, see the Head Sistem of ignition, the Section Removal and installation of the distributor of ignition.

Holding cam-shafts a key, to unscrew bolts of fastening of cogwheels. To remove cogwheels of cam-shafts, if necessary to bring down easy blows of the rubber hammer.

To remove cogwheels carefully not to lose the directing pins.

To unscrew a sealing plate.

To check an axial side play of cam-shafts. The required value: 0,07 - 0,19 mm. The most admissible axial side play: 0,20 mm. If this value is exceeded, it is necessary to replace cam-shafts and, perhaps, a head of cylinders.

To mark all covers of bearings with chalk or a felt-tip pen that at installation they could be established on former places and in the same situation.

To evenly weaken covers of bearings of inlet and final camshafts for several passes in that order and to uncover.

To remove cam-shafts with old epiploons.

Installation

As the axial side play of a cam-shaft is extremely small, at installation the cam-shaft should be held in horizontal position. For providing it it is necessary to fulfill the following requirements. If the cam-shaft at installation is warped, the shaft or a head of cylinders can be damaged.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

To cover all places of support of cam-shafts with a small amount of engine oil.
To insert cam-shafts.

To apply on the shaded places sealant on a silicone basis (for example, DOW CORNING Q3-7057).

Sealant should not be applied on necks of bearings.

To establish all covers of bearings according to marking.

To tighten bolts of fastening of covers of bearings by means of a dynamometer key in the given sequence. The inhaling of bolts is carried out for two passes.

1st pass: 10 Nanometers
2nd pass: 15 Nanometers

To grease epiploons of cam-shafts and the place of their landing with a small amount of engine oil. It is careful to hammer an epiploon with a pipe of the same diameter. To hammer epiploons that they were level with a head of cylinders.

Not to warp epiploons at installation.

To establish a sealing plate and to tighten fastening bolts with effort of 10 Nanometers.
To clear a cam-shaft cogwheel of water and oil.

To turn cam-shafts that the directing pins were turned up.

To establish cogwheels of cam-shafts up by marks I (the inlet party), E (the final party).
To tighten bolts of fastening of cam-shafts with effort of 60 Nanometers. At the same time to hold a wheel an adjustable spanner.

At an inhaling of a cam-shaft not to damage a head of cylinders a key.

To establish and pull a gear belt, see the Section Removal and installation of a gear belt of VZ, V5, B6 (SOHC), BP engines (SOHC).

To apply on the shaded places sealant on a silicone basis (for example, DOW CORNING Q 3-7057).

To establish a cover of a head of cylinders with laying and to tighten 10 Nanometers with effort.
To install the ignition distributor, see the Head Sistem of ignition, the Section Removal and installation of the distributor of ignition.
