Removal and installation of a starter

The starter is necessary for start of the internal combustion engine. The starter has to accelerate the engine to 300 rpm. It occurs only when the starter works faultlessly and the battery is rather charged. The starter consists of cases of the drive, poles and a collector. In cases of poles and a collector there is an anchor and a collector, and also the brush holder. In the brush holder there are coal brushes which are the wearing-out detail. At strong wear of coal brushes the starter cannot normally work.

In the forward case of the drive the gear drive is placed. At inclusion of a starter the traction relay which is on a starter shifts a gear wheel to a gear wreath of a flywheel. When the gear wheel reaches against the stop, it is reliably connected to a flywheel. Now the starter can accelerate the engine to necessary speed. When the engine is started, the gear wheel disperses the engine and departs from a flywheel.

As start of the engine requires big consumption of current, within maintenance it is necessary to watch a faultless condition of cable connections. Corroded contacts to clear and grease with protective lubricant for poles.

Depending on the engine on MAZDA 323 starters of various power are established: petrol engines: 0,85/0,95 kW; diesel engines: 1,4/2,2 kW.

Depending on type the starter can be the returned element, it means that the cost of an old starter is set off upon purchase new, the old starter has to be handed over upon purchase of new.

Removal on the petrol engine

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To remove the battery, see the Section Removal and installation of the battery.
  2. To lift the car.
  1. To unscrew fastening of a-2-inlet collector.
  1. To disconnect a cable-3 of the plug 3 (it is designated also as the plug 50).
  2. To unscrew a plug B cable-4 (it is designated also as the plug 30).
  3. To unscrew a starter (3 bolts). 6 = fastening of a starter.
  1. To take out a starter down.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To insert a starter from below, to tighten 3 bolts with effort of 50 Nanometers. The inhaling moment for cars to 9/89 g of the issue: 40 Nanometers.
  2. To screw a wire on the plug 30 (B) with effort of 10 Nanometers.
  3. To connect the plug to the plug 50 (3), it has to be latched.
  4. To insert a support of an inlet pipe and to screw with effort 50 Nanometers from above and from below. To tighten a fastening bolt on fastening of a starter with effort of 25 Nanometers.
  5. To lower the car, see the Head Vvedeniye.
  6. To install the battery, see the Section Removal and installation of the battery.
  7. If are available, to determine time on hours and to set a protective code of the radio receiver.

Removal for the diesel engine

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To disconnect a weight cable from the battery.

At the same time data from memory of malfunctions of the engine or a protective code of the radio receiver are erased. Before shutdown of the battery it is necessary to read instructions in the Section Removal also installation of the battery.


  1. To unscrew the resonant channel, to disconnect an air hose. To put both details aside.
  1. To disconnect a cable-2 of the plug 3 (it is designated also as the plug 50).
  1. To unscrew a plug B cable-3 (it is designated also as the plug 30).
  2. To unscrew a starter-4-(2 bolts) and to take out up.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To insert a starter from above, to tighten 2 bolts with effort of 50 Nanometers.
  2. To impart a wire to the plug 30 (B) with effort of 10 Nanometers.
  3. To connect the plug to the plug 50 (S), it has to be latched.
  4. To lower and screw the resonant channel, to put on an air hose.
  5. To connect a weight cable to the battery.
  6. If are available, to determine time on hours and to set a protective code of the radio receiver.
