Removal and installation of the hug bearing

Cars to 9/89 g of the issue and the station wagon model (not all-wheel drive)

Holders of the two-component hug bearing on cars to 9/89 g of the issue are in the brake drum, on cars with back disk brakes — in a brake disk. After each installation the side play of the bearing has to be regulated by a nut.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To remove the brake drum or a brake disk, see the Head the Brake system.

The nave nut on the left side of the car has the left carving, for easing it should be rotated to the right (clockwise).

  1. To remove the released parts of the bearing.
  2. To wipe and examine bearing holders. With defects or visible wear all bearing has to be replaced. Not to disassemble the bearing needlessly if it is not required.
  3. To take out an epiploon.
  1. To beat out both external holders a brass core. At the same time to rearrange a core on a circle on various places in order to avoid a distortion of holders.

Not to apply a steel core that on holders were not formed agnails.

  1. In case of wear to remove an internal holder of the bearing from a pin a standard stripper.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Always to replace the hug bearing in a set (an internal and external holder and also a body of swing) even if only one holder is damaged.
  2. To visually check a pin for existence of damages and wear, if necessary to replace.
  1. To evenly hammer bearing holders - With - by means of the hammer and a brass core against the stop. It is better to use a stationary press if that is available, with a mandrel of the corresponding diameter.
  1. To fill the conic roller bearing with lubricant (lithium).
  2. To insert the internal bearing.
  1. To evenly press a new epiploon by means of an equal plate, not to strike blows with the hammer directly to an epiploon.
  1. To cover an epiploon with lubricant.
  2. To install the brake drum, or a brake disk and at the same time also to insert the external conic roller bearing, see the Head the Brake system.
  3. To adjust a hug bearing side play.
  4. To screw a wheel, considering a tag on a nave. To lower the car and to tighten wheel nuts cross-wise with effort of 100 Nanometers.
